Meet the face
behind the food

Hi! My name is Mia and I really love dessert. Here's a little history on my career as a pastry chef:

I knew I wanted to be a chef at the age of 5.  I was really lucky to be able to find my passion at such a young age, and it definitely gave me the opportunity to get a head start on life.

When I was 13, I convinced my mom to start a cupcake business.  That way, I would have a reason to help her bake without drowning in the dozens of baked goods we couldn't possibly eat all of. Sugar Rush is still up and running 10 years later, and more successful than ever!

When I entered high school, I decided to attend a vocational school with a focus in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management.  From there, my passion grew and I fell in love with The Culinary Institute of America during an admissions presentation.  I was beyond lucky to spend 2 amazing years at the Hyde Park, NY campus, where I was granted the opportunity to spend a semester-long externship working at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.  Best 15 weeks of my life!

After graduating with an Associate's in Baking and Pastry Arts, I headed west to San Francisco!  I spent a year and a half working at one of the most iconic fine dining restaurants in the city, and I got promoted to Pastry Sous Chef after only 9 months!

When Covid hit, I made the difficult decision to move back to my hometown in Massachusetts.  I landed a job with the most prestigious restaurant group in Boston, continuing my love for fine dining. While there, I decided that I wanted to expand my skillset and see what other opportunities are out there for me.

And here I am! Thank you for visiting my blog and taking a little time to learn about me and my 20 year long passion for baking!
